Hi all!

I’m Teresa and mum to two little girls! Cora, who is almost 2, and Keeley, 9 months old.

I teach hypnobirthing online and locally, covering South Aberdeenshire and Angus.

When I’m not robed into parenting our two girls I am an enthusiastic cyclist and runner and I like weight lifting and hula hooping. I was born in Germany and have lived in Scotland since 2010. We raise our two daughters bilingual which has been fun so far! I also enjoy video games and watching my favourite programmes on Netflix or Prime and I love cooking! We are a vegan family so I’m forever experimenting with new recipes!

Now, what made me become a hypnobirthing instructor?

When my husband and I were expecting Cora we took hypnobirthing classes with Jade to prepare for the birth of our first child. I became so fascinated with the idea of a calm, positive and peaceful birth that following Cora’s birth I decided to take Jade up on her offer to join SONA Mum and became an instructor myself. The idea to help other expecting parents in the same way Jade helped us made me happy!

Fast forward to today we have two beautiful daughters whose births have both been amazing. First time round the techniques and relaxation that I have learned made it possible to experience a forceps hospital birth with a spinal in a positive way and allowed me to process the changes and disappointment not to have our planned homebirth and turn it into a happy, empowering experience instead.  Many others I know who had a similar birth would describe it as a negative and disappointing experience. With Keeley I had the homebirth I wanted after all although I never made it into our birth pool.

The many tools we use in hypnobirthing have helped me grow into the mother I am now and they can be utilised in so many aspects of life, too!

The passion I have developed for pregnancy, birth and the amazing female body made me strive further and go beyond your typical hypnobirthing.

While I was off on maternity with my second daughter I have taken private courses to offer support and work with parents. These include:

  • Birth Trauma Recovery
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Baby loss and miscarriage

In addition to that I am currently taking a course on supporting parents who experience postnatal depression.

All of the above are topics very close to my heart, some due to my own experiences, and being able to offer help and support to families is something that is important to me on so many levels.

Furthermore, I am currently developing a webinar workshop on positive intervention birth, including instrumental births and elective c-section births. At SONA Mum, Jade is already covering “Positive Induction” and with this additional content, all of which is exclusive to SONA Mum, we will hopefully make it possible to offer support to families during pregnancy and postnatally all around.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to send us a message.

Take care

Teresa
